What I've Learned in College: Sophomore Year

This past semester has really kicked me. This year I am a sophomore in Interior Architecture and Design, I've joined a sorority, lived in an apartment, and worked. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it much more than last year, but boy oh boy I had so much on my plate. With everything going on I learned a lot and experienced new things like... Dish Soap Doesn't Magically Refill I don't know about you, but at my house if we are low on dish soap there seems to be a full bottle the next day as if one of Santa's little elves dropped it off. Turns out Santa's elves don't stop at apartments. I have found myself using things to the very last drop and then adding water because I may not be going to the store soon or I forgot it at my last trip. This has happened not just with dish soap, but also with toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I haven't solved the problem, but I do make sure to take those essentials from my real house (parents house?...

2019 Christmas Guide

Christmas is upon us! Which means joy and hope is here! Since people give each other presents on Christmas I complied a guide on what to buy for everyone if your're unsure. I organized it by person and then by gift: an Expensive Gift, an Affordable Gift, An Experience, and a DIY Gift. I also attached links for the gifts. Also a new podcast is up here ! Enjoy! That Special Man in Your Life Like your Dad or Grandpa! Tools , $50+ Most years my dad asks for tools, but I don't know what kind, so if ya want to get tools just ask him what kind. I can't help ya with what kind here, but I'm sure an American made one will do! Keychain , $20 My dad has asked for keychains labeled with what the keys go to and now here some are! They are a little expensive for what they are though. Performing Arts Tickets , $40+ The Mystery Science Theater is coming in February and I know my dad would probably like to go. Getting tickets for somewhere ensures a memory and not a u...

Major Life Advice

Recently during class I was giving an acquaintance/friend advice after being asked "How am I so happy?" and another acquaintance/friend wanted me to begin as she thought this was very important. Today I want to share part of a book (google doc) that I've been writing throughout the years that is full of advice I have received and found. Today is the Best Day of My Life This may sound crazy, but it's true, everyday is the best day of your life because you never know when life will end. I learned this from my dad who even thought it was crazy when he heard it from his friend. This advice has helped me look at the positive in every day things. For example in high school I didn't enjoy waking up around 4 am for swim practice, but when I dad told me this advice, I started thinking about it began enjoying early mornings. How lucky was I to do what I love, be awake before anyone else, talk to my friends, and laugh endlessly before the sun rose? So lucky and as ...

Thank You to My Friends

Friendships can be hard. I was recently looking at houses online and saw a former friend's home for sale. I looked through the pictures and remembered being in that house and friends I've had throughout the years. I thought about what they’ve taught me and the memories I have with them similar to Ariana Grande in "Thank You, Next."  Grace has taught me to laugh more, like when we had performed stand up comedy in front of my family or when, years ago, she asked a man going door to door when her "Obama phone" would arrive. Rose showed me to be kind and gentle as I don't always have to be extravagant and talkative to get my point across or feel heard. I learned this through conversations and her patience during an eventful day shopping. Brandy showed me that friendships can begin in unlikely ways (like kicking each other underwater) and are able to grow apart, but resume just like the day it began whether it be hugging and crying at a footba...
