2019 Christmas Guide

Christmas is upon us! Which means joy and hope is here! Since people give each other presents on Christmas I complied a guide on what to buy for everyone if your're unsure. I organized it by person and then by gift: an Expensive Gift, an Affordable Gift, An Experience, and a DIY Gift. I also attached links for the gifts. Also a new podcast is up here! Enjoy!

That Special Man in Your Life

Like your Dad or Grandpa!

Tools, $50+
Most years my dad asks for tools, but I don't know what kind, so if ya want to get tools just ask him what kind. I can't help ya with what kind here, but I'm sure an American made one will do!

Keychain, $20
My dad has asked for keychains labeled with what the keys go to and now here some are! They are a little expensive for what they are though.

Performing Arts Tickets, $40+
The Mystery Science Theater is coming in February and I know my dad would probably like to go. Getting tickets for somewhere ensures a memory and not a useless shirt in the closet.

Underwear, $15 or less
Homemade underwear, how handy and personal!
For context read the post I wrote last year here, also I linked the title with a website for boxer short patterns.

Yo' Mama

Gifts for the fun mom.

Car, $?
If you can afford it you might want to get your mom a car, that's what my mom is asking for this Christmas, but make sure it's a cool car, no one looks cool driving a Subaru Outback.

Sweater, $80
Sweaters are great to give! Especially quality ones made out of 100% natural materials. I don't know if the one I linked is though.

Gym Membership, $50+
This might sound mean, but my mom asked for a renewal of her gym membership. I didn't know this experience ran so expensive.

Painting, $10
People love paintings especially if you made it for them. I painted one for mother's day of my mom's old farm and my mom adored it! Inexpensive too!

Your NOT Preppy Brother

You know the one, he insists he isn't preppy because he wears Rowing Blazers and like to skateboard instead of Vineyard Vines and going sailing.

Rugby Shirt, $195
I love this shirt and all the shirts Rowing Blazers makes, they're unique and fun, while maintaining history and style.

Skateboard Wheels, $30
I don't know know much about skateboard wheels, so I linked whatever my brother circled.

Comedy Club Tickets, $25+
Comedians are always coming to perform and there are some good ones coming like David Spade at BellyUp Aspen or Michelle Wolf at Comedy Works Denver! I got my mom tickets for Adam Carolla for her Birthday and she loved it!

Stickers, $10+
My brother and I went through a phase of making stickers and magnets. All you have to do is print on sticker paper and cover in self laminating plastic!

For the Snoop Dogg to your Martha Stewart

Gifts for your real friends.

College Sweater, $90
I love Hillflint! They make the most wonderful college clothing that is cool, not overdone with too many colors, fonts, and mascots. This is a perfect gift for anyone in or out of school or anyone who wants to pretend they didn't drop out of college in front of the family.

 Macarons, $12+
I love macarons! My favorite are from Honey B's in Colorado, but they're also available at Whole Foods, Dana's Bakery, and many other places! Any friend with a refined palette would adore these!

Trip Tickets, $50+
Who wouldn't want to go on a vacation with their friends? There are many options of places to go for cheap (if ya time it right) like ski towns in the spring! How nice would it be to receive a plane ticket or part of a trip paid for?

Bath Bombs, Probably $5
DIY Bath Bombs have been mighty popular lately, so why not make some for friends. Or you could just go to Lush.

20 Activities for 20 year Olds

Good Morning Family and Friends! Recently I have been incredibly bored, hopefully my online classes will entertain me more. I have previously stated that I wasn’t practicing social distancing or whatever, however my mom has been making me stay inside more often and now Colorado is on lockdown. I looked up activities for 20 year olds and didn’t find anything, I guess people make these lists for stay at home moms with young children. So, I decided to make my own list for you, the audience, if you’re bored (which if you’re reading this you probably are) and looking for something to do. Read Woah, how original...read. I don’t read for pleasure often. In the summer I read The Great Gatsby  and I usually read one of Father Greg Boyle’s books some other time in the year. I also read my Vogue magazines. Two books and a magazine isn’t that much. However, since there is more time to do stuff, I figured I could read more. My brother gave me The Princess Bride to read, I’ve read a lit...

What I've Learned in College: End of Freshman Year Fun part 2

Continued from Part 1 8.Cowboys are Real Cowboys are typically seen as people who used to live in the Wild West years and years ago. I honestly think that my grandfather was one of the last American cowboys. While, I wills till continue to this this, I have learned that cowboys are still real! Every once in a while, I will see an old man sporting leather cowboy boots, a blue pair of Wrangler jeans, a button down shirt, a weathered, leather belt, a leather vest, a cowboy hat, a grown out beard, and skin weathered and tan like the leather. I didn’t think people still dressed like this besides for show! This is someone’s real life outfit! I am always astonished to see people like this because I don’t see them regularly. They look like their straight off a horse in ye old west! Students even wear cowboy boots daily! It’s something else. 9. People still pressure you. I don't drink for multiple reasons, and I was under the impression that people don't pressure people i...

Guest Post: Boys, Friendships, and Knowing who You are by Harriet Alove

I invited a close friend of mine to write a post about whatever she desired. Harriet Alove (pen name) reflects on boys and finding who she is while in college.  ------------------------------             Much like Katherine since I have been at college I have noticed a lot of new different things. I am no longer coddled by the Jesuits, no more Kairos, no more of my sisters passing me in the hallways while I’m having a meltdown during class and having them sit and talk with me ‘till I feel better. Going to one of the largest state universities in the country has truly shell shocked me. Having ‘theology of the body’ as the most of a sex ed class I’ve had, to oddly having more knowledge about Myer’s Briggs types thanks to Mr. Cook’s junior theology. However, what has shocked me the most is how lost I have felt about myself. I’m no longer a swimmer, a good old Catholic girl going to ...
