Christmas Memories: You have the Son, You have it all

Christmas is coming quickly and that means that another Christmas memory is due.        One year my family and I went to a family friend's play. The play was about an affluent father who collects art and his son. The father loves his son very much, but one day his son is drafted into the military. Unfortunately, the father finds out that his son dies during the war and hears how appreciated he was. The father later gets a painting done of his son. The father dies sometime after. After his death an auction is held for all of the art that he collected over time. Many collectors are interested in the art, however as is stated in the will, the first piece to go must be the painting of his son. No one wants to buy the painting, but a friend of his son arrives. The friend decides to purchase the painting when it is reveled that the one who gets the son, gets it all!       The play is a nice reminder to what is truly important ...

Realistic Winter Bucketlist

Every year I have many plans for winter, but never complete them, so this year I have a realistic winter bucket list accompanied with my unrealistic bucket list to the left. Go to the Zoo lights with Friends: See friends got to Zoo lights on Instagram Go to the Denver Botanical Gardens Blossoms of Light: See friends go to Blossoms of Light on Instagram. Play in Snow: Trudge through Snow. Sled: Whine because snow got in my boots. Ski: Look at ski clothing online. Go to Aspen: Plan trip to Aspen, but not go. Go to Crested Butte: Ask and ask dad, but be denied because he doesn't want to be cold. Have Birthday in Crested Butte: Have Birthday in Casa Bonita Bake Cookies for Santa: Eat cookies for Santa. Wrap presents perfectly: They will be Perfect. Enjoy every moment: Whine because I didn't get the presents I wanted.  Go to Christmas Eve Mass with all my loves!: Will Happen.  Drive Lance to School: Be told I can never drive again.  Watch lots of Christmas Movie...

Christmas Memories: Eww

Its Friday, which means another Christmas Memory! For Christmas Eve my family and I put out a sandwich for Santa Claus, because he must get tired of cookies. The first year we did this we set out the cookies, the sandwich, and the reindeer carrots. We went to bed and the next morning we woke up. We went to the living room to see what gifts Santa has brought us. As I was walking towards my stocking I stepped in something slimy. It was Santa's mayonnaise covered lettuce! Eww! I was not happy about this and avoided it the rest of the day. God Bless

18 going on 88

Since I have begun college I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands and I think I am turning in to an 80 year old. One day, I didn’t think I had anything to do, so I took the time to get the newspaper and do the crossword puzzle. I’ve always enjoyed crossword puzzles, but have never had the time to do them. I usually do a crossword a day. It keeps the mind young. I’ve also taken up solitaire. I also have been into bird watching (I can identify Canadian Goose and Duck). I like to walk by the pond and watch the geese and ducks. I like to name them too. Usually, the names are Quacktherine and Duckstin Bieber.   I’ve told my therapist about this and he said that I’m doing better than most people. I’m not drinking, or doing drugs, or anything. So, that’s good. Well, good night, its 5:30 and time for me to go to sleep!

Christmas Memories: Forgotten at the Pool

Since, I didn't do last week's Christmas Memory post, here it is this week.  Some of the most memorable times at Christmas are centered around the pool. I have been having swim practices during Christmas for many years. One year was incredibly fun in the pool during Christmas! I had a late night swim practice and was sick, but I needed to swim. Anyways, the swim practice ended around 10-11pm. As parents were picking up their daughters and my friends were going home, my dad was still not there! I had checked multiple times outside, but to no avail. My phone was also dead, so I could not contact my family. Thankfully, some teammates and the coach waited with me. One of my teammates offered her phone to call my family. They picked up and I finally got to figure out what was happening. It went a little like this “Hi Mom, did Dad forget to pick me up?” “Oh, Shit!” she said drowsily. “Ooh, He fell asleep waiting (to get you)” “Oh can you wake him up to get me?” “...

Christmas Memories: Baptist and Breakfast

Once again it is time to spread Christmas Cheer.  One year during Christmas time my family and I went to a Baptist Church for their music program. Lance was playing guitar at the time and his guitar teacher was a musician in the program and invited us to come. We went and the pastor welcomed everyone as it began. The music was so beautiful and joyful, without a flaw. It played on and on. There were also narrators. I thought their words were recorded, but they weren’t! It was so perfect. The time went on and on and I wondered when the pastor would speak. The program ended and the pastor didn’t speak, it was just a beautiful music program. Afterwards, my family and I went to Mimi’s cafĂ© and had breakfast. Nowadays, we sometimes go to the music program, because it is such a warming time.  God Bless!
