What I’ve Learned in College: Quarantine Edition

My fridge at my house

This post is a bit late, but it’s whatever. This past semester has been unconventional to say the least. I’ve been with my family and at my house for most of it. However, I didn’t mind working from home and learned a few new things along the way.

Classes are WAY Easier the Second Time Around
This past semester I needed to retake a few classes after getting less than stellar grades. I had to retake geology and it was much better this time around. I sat up front and my teacher was more calm. I understood information much better and there were only a few heavily weighted assignments during the whole semester which I prefer instead lots of lightly weighted assignments. Instead of a D I ended up with a B. I also retook construction. I had gotten a C prior, which is fine, but not the grade needed for the program. I made sure to stay on top of my assignments because I’m not bad at construction, but simply won’t do the assignments when I have something more stressful or I just forget about the assignment. I actually enjoy construction. I ended with an A! In both classes I focused on my work and knew what to expect already. I also knew some information from previous experience. So, while it’s not ideal to retake a class it has its good sides.

I Understand Why It’s Important to go to Class
Prior to school becoming at home I didn’t understand why I had to go to class. I mean if you read the book you’ll be fine, right? Wrong! Through my class video lectures I found that there is information that’s presented in class that isn’t in the book! So, it’s important to go to class and learn what isn’t in the book!

Thanks to these I had an easy semester and turned in some of my best work including a fabulous research report on the Denver homeless camping ban! Anyways, that’s all I think I learned. Both are good lessons that I’ll hopefully implement in the future!

God Bless!
