Katherine’s 7th Grade Diary: Frosting Lips

Well, this diary entry is long, but I think it's chock full of silly memories and confusing thoughts! Once again, the typed part is verbatim and doesn't include the proper grammar or spelling in order to match the diary closely! So Enjoy!

Recap of Last Month:

Trick-or-Treating had a ball (pretty scared they all drugged my candy)

Election: Obama won

Little mermaid show:OS (Olympic Swimmer, Missy Franklin) didn't show she had to choose a college.

It seems like Jake likes me

Went to Via Baci w\ connor and Lindsay

Tomorrow's Thanks giving

*Lance’s Robotic Competion (Daddy and I explored Westminiser High School)

Yesterday at school (11/20) was fine. The 6th graders were gone on a field trip, so only half of the 7th graders had the lunchroom and playground to ourselves.

At Lunch Nai asked me "Do you like George?"

I made a disgusting face at that.

Then, I said "No! I like someone else."

"Oh yeah" said Naomi

Then she shouted "Katherine Michaels!" Then she said "That has a nice ring to it." So, I think Jake knows I like him.

Oh! I hope Jake likes me not Allison.

By the way it was Yao's last day. hes going back to China, so during lunch all 7th grade "guys" took group photos of them together. He's in the U.S. untill Saturday. It's interesting because Yao was better at math than Peter. My lit class and Margot's sci class had a going away party in Mr. Lamar's room. There were cupcakes and people said memories with Yao. He came last year in like the end of September. People were crying. According to Gabe Yao made a half court shoot w/ one hand and made it on his first day of school. I don't know how much of that is true, but it was his last day, so I along with it. Mary was said because they were "piano buddies". They both had the same piano teacher and competed against each other. I didn't know him well, but I knew him enough, Most people were crying (even Harry), but Jake and I.

Then, afterschool we took a group photo of the Literacy class and Yao.

I wasn't that sad, but yet I was. I do hope he visits us at 8th gr. graduation. Oh! And then everyone's crying and Harry has frosting on his lip, so I go say "Harry you have frosting on your lip." He didn't seem to care, but then Mary shoots at me "Katherine that's not funny!" Okay, I wasn't laughing I just wanted Harry to know he  had frosting lips. Then George says "Katherine, really?" "Seriously, Katherine stop it!" cried Mary.

I mean what did I do? Then, I tried to say bye to Yao and left. I do hope he is succesful in life.I hope he does well in china and will always remember us. Lord Bless him.

I think Jake does like me because after I left and was gone, he left. I know because I was right behind his car when we were driving away. Oh, Lars had 10 cupcakes.

Goodbye Yao, I wish to you the best of luck!

We also brought in the wire today and received money! Awesome! I saw two hobos flip each other off twice.

Commentary

At 5 pages this is a very lengthy diary entry. I'm glad I gave updates on the first page as to what was going on in my world. I'd like to point out the part regarding "The Little Mermaid" show and Missy Franklin. At the time I competed in synchronized swimming and prior to competition season we had a "The Little Mermaid" swim show based on the Broadway musical. I had invited Missy Franklin to this swim show. I wrote her a letter and sent it off to her (and eventually my) high school. She never got back to me, but I did receive her portrait from her. I really like that I have a nickname for her, OS, because Olympic Swimmer, Missy Franklin was way too long to write. In fact, we should refer to every Olympic swimmer as OS. It sounds so cool! Regarding my Thanksgiving comment, I do know tomorrow is not used with an apostrophe and that Thanksgiving is not two separate words.

The second page is just kind of whatever. Just typical middle school shenanigans. However, the third page is full of detail regarding one of my classmates leaving. I remember this being a huge deal! He was there for about a year before leaving. I laugh at the phrase "I knew him enough." I just like juxtaposition of people balling and me not seeming to care a lot. My diary reads that "I knew him enough" which was true, so I could see how I'm not incredibly upset. It just didn't altar my life that much.

I think the fourth page is also kind of funny. I still have no idea as to why my friends were mad at me. I think I thought about how people want to be told if they have something in their teeth, so I figured Harry would want to know that he had frosting on his lip. From what I wrote he didn't seem too bothered, however George and Mary were pissed. Maybe it was an inappropriate situation for me to bring that up or it could've been my tone. I mean I didn't have any rude intent, but I do have issues with my tone because even now people can't tell if I'm joking or being serious. I guess I gotta work on that. I do like how I'm so confused though.

The fifth page is very sweet when I wish him the best of luck and assume that because someone leaves after you they like you. I don't think that's how it works. Finally, on the sixth page I am incredibly excited that I saw such a spectacle! However, now I know that I shouldn't laugh at people and should use the PC term "people experiencing homelessness."

Anyways, Thank You!

God Bless

20 Activities for 20 year Olds

Good Morning Family and Friends! Recently I have been incredibly bored, hopefully my online classes will entertain me more. I have previously stated that I wasn’t practicing social distancing or whatever, however my mom has been making me stay inside more often and now Colorado is on lockdown. I looked up activities for 20 year olds and didn’t find anything, I guess people make these lists for stay at home moms with young children. So, I decided to make my own list for you, the audience, if you’re bored (which if you’re reading this you probably are) and looking for something to do. Read Woah, how original...read. I don’t read for pleasure often. In the summer I read The Great Gatsby  and I usually read one of Father Greg Boyle’s books some other time in the year. I also read my Vogue magazines. Two books and a magazine isn’t that much. However, since there is more time to do stuff, I figured I could read more. My brother gave me The Princess Bride to read, I’ve read a lit...

The Best Experience of my Young Life: Casa Bonita

I read an article by Westword that read if Disneyland and Tijuana had a baby and left it to fend for itself in a strip mall on Colfax, it’d be Casa Bonita. I finally got to experience this gem with some of my friends, Nai and Hannah, who have also been eager to try the restaurant out.       We pulled into the packed parking lot of Casa Bonita that stood in the same shopping complex as two dollar stores and a kids dental office next door. People surrounded the outside as the fountain splashed and I took photos as rapidly as a mom on Christmas morning. This was it, the best of themed dining experiences. We entered into a very confusing entryway and found the line, but first we stopped by the bathroom, which happened to be very nice. We stood in the red velvet roped line with other epicures, such as ourselves, waiting to order at the register. The line was dark, but illuminated by Corona neons, a sign with the words “Easto Much, Peso Little”, a vi...

Things I've Found on the Ground

Family and friends, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It has been a while since I've published a blog post, but after audience interest in the rekindling of the blog here I am at the 11th hour to ensure a numerical year doesn't go by without a post. I guess I've been gone because I've been busy or less inspired…I don't know. Anyways, for the past two years (and some months) I’ve taken pictures of things I find on the ground, some of  them are amusing, so I’ve decided to share some and write little stories for each. So, please enjoy a small collection of photos and commentary of things I’ve found on the ground.  Making Love in a Hopeless Place Where: Walmart Parking Lot When: December What: An Open Condom Wrapper Can anyone imagine a more romantic place to cement your love than a Walmart parking lot. I surely can't. Forget fireworks you have the rustle of your grocery bags in the back seat. Meanwhile the cold midnight air wafts in through your cracked windows a...
