About Me

Hi, I’m Katherine! I realize I’ve had this blog for a while and never formally introduced myself, mostly because I know most of my readers personally, but for those I don’t know I hope you can understand a little bit more about me and my blog this way. I am currently a student in college studying interior design. I am also a Catholic School girl who considers myself pretty preppy, but I’m not sure if I totally am. I enjoy swimming and golf and have been swimming since I was 6 months old! I love talking a lot and love to share the weird, fun things I encounter. I also LOVE fashion and always have, so I might switch to that because that is what I ultimately want to do. That’s a little about me and I think I will add an about me on my Instagram story every friday, but more about my blog. I began The Katherine Kazette after bringing up the idea in a class that I had, especially two friends, Audrey and Hayden, who really encouraged me, so the Katherine Kazette began! I started with ...

Neiman Marcus is Perfect for the Apocolypse

During a hall meeting we were asked where we would go if the world was eending. Without hesitation I said "Neiman Marcus!" My partner I was paired with had no clue what Neiman Marcus is! How? I feel like everyone knows what Neimans is, but I guess not. Total culture shock. I told her it's just like luxury clothing and food. She and many more girls in my hall answered with Wal-Mart and Costco. While, those seemed like obvious choices, I realized That Neiman's is much better!         Neiman Marcus sells clothing, food, furniture, but every year in their Christmas Book they sell fantasy gifts. In the past they have sold His and Her Lear Jets, Serenity Solar Yachts, Dale Chihuli floored pools, Mark Ashby designed Backyard Escapes, Trips to the Maldives, His and Her Neiman Marcus Island Cars,  all four Tennis Majors, Sugarfina experiences in the Italian Rivera, Colbalt Valkyrie-X Private Plane, Top Secret Missions that include La...

A Recap: December 2018

December was Ah-mazing!  Bye! I  finished my semester which included turning in a rendering of my group's idea for a dorm building, taking my finals which were relatively easy, and home I went! Dior at the Denver Art Museum        Fashion has always been a love of mine and probably always will be, so when I heard two years ago a Christian Dior exhibit would be arriving I knew I had to go. I went with my parents and loved seeing the haute couture. I will definitely get into this more. I also had a great lunch down there too. Poker        I did have a few friends over to play poker and catch up which was sweet. I enjoyed hearing the crazy stories they have and everything in between. Sightings         Since many of my friends from high school were back in town for Christmas they could be found everywhere! I ran into a friend of mine at the mall and talked about a frat party for a little and then anoth...

A Recap: November 2018

In November, everything went well, but there was still a little fun Friendsgiving       Cru put on a Friendsgiving which was nice. I did meet some new people and enjoyed talking. Talking        I also got to talk with one of the older girls in Cru. She listened to my lifeguard stories and we went grocery shopping for what felt like my four kids. Thanksgiving        After, a furious scurry to vacuum my room, my dad and I headed home for Thanksgiving. I mainly just stayed at home and hung out. However, I did begin running in the morning which was nice, but I can't run very well. It's like I jog, but slower and there's less distance between my feet, it's weird, I can't run. I also made my own Christmas card for Christmas, I still have to send it out to people though.        On Thanksgiving I helped make the pumpkin pie and green bean casserole which was delicious!. I was pretty proud of myself. It was a ni...

A Review: October 2018

October was a nice time to get away and see people again. Not Chocolate        In Early October, I went to the student health center to make an appointment. Lo and behold what I thought were Ghiradelli chocolates were not. The full story can be read in my post "What I've Learned in College." Estes Park with CRU         In early to mid October I went to Estes Park with CRU. It was nice.          The first night we drove up there and talked which was nice. It was really snowy though when we were trying to find where we were staying, so I offered to get out and guide the way, but my offer was not accepted. We checked in and all. There was a short talk, team meeting, and then a dance. The different schools all had a dance to compete with. Some were really cool with dinosaurs, tributes to musicians, flips, and more. The dances were entertaining to watch some even seemed surreal. Then came the dance party. It was fun after...

A Review: September 2018

In September I got used to college, but not enough to not go home. I'm Back!       For Labor Day I went back home, yay! I even went back to work because my brother was feeling sick. It was so nice to even be at the pool and see familiar faces again. Actually , my last day that year. Birthday        For one of my friends' birthdays I created a piece of art featuring her favorite things. Pool        One day during a trip to Target I saw an inflatable pool on sale. I figure we should have a pool in our room! So, we take it back inflate it and add water! it only stayed for a week though, it was taking up room and creating humidity. It was cool to say I had a pool in my room. Freshman Camping Trip       In September I attended the Freshman Camping Trip with CRU. I really enjoyed the chill in the air and how quiet it was. The stars were also pretty. I talked with a lot of people too. Overall, it was ...

A Review: August 2018

August was filled many beginnings and endings. Pool Party!       The month began as usual, with me working at the pool. My friend and I made sure to make the most of it! I taught her how to make the snack, Ants on a Log, and we just simply enjoyed each other's company. Grand Junction        My family and I went to Grand Junction for a family member's birthday. It was a lot of fun because I met family that I did not know before. Families stories were shared that may or may not be true which is always a good time. The best part was the cake though. My family and I think that the baker was told "I want this on the cake." The baker then just put a photo of the cake that they wanted it modeled after, instead of the actual design.        Our hotel that night was fun. The pool was so cold and blue, so refreshing.        The next day we drove back, but not without fruit from Palisade! We drove around until ...

A Review: July 2018

In July, the summer continues. The 4th of July!       The fourth of July is always a fun day! This past year I worked and had a great time! The night before we decorated the pool which was so much fun! The day of  we held small events and competitions and even face painting!         That night my family and I saw fireworks which were beautiful, but so were the dark clouds on the horizon. It also rained a bit, so my family and I put a blanket on to cover us all which was funny! Our amazing face paint work! Pool Party        Once again I had so much fun working! More pool stories are to come! Paddle Boarding       During the summer, a friend and I went paddle boarding! Paddle boarding is always so much fun because you get to float on top of the water, see the boats, and jump off into the lake! This particular time as my friend and I were renting out paddle boards the attendants warne...

A Review: June 2018

Every year, June makes me swoon because my summer's seemingly  last forever! Wedding        This past June I attended my first ever wedding! It was held for my cousin and his now wife!        The ceremony took place at the top of a valley that was gorgeous! It was short and sweet and would not be complete with everyone's dogs.         Afterwards, came the reception which was held just a short walk down from the ceremony. There was a beautiful lake, as well as corn hole and an adorable Polaroid booth, all which my family and I participated in.Dinner consisted of barbecue that was actually fabulous! It was nice to catch up with my extended family, my cousins have the craziest experiences! Eventually there was "dancing" (Irish Catholics can't dance) so my family and I left. We went back to our hotel and hung out. The next morning we had our free continental breakfast with one of my cousins who told us more crazy stories....

A Review: May 2018

The past May contained some of my most favorite memories! Crowning of Mary      One of my last days of school was for the Virgin Mary, so in one of my clubs we put flowers on by her feet as the school crowned her already. It was very pretty and serene, a time to reflect and sit in the beauty! 2nd to Last Day       The second to last day of school was my favorite! and wearing my favorite Lilly Pulitzer clothing topped it all off!        I began the day with yoga, but instead we walked around the neighborhood by the school and viewed the sights, pet some dogs, and talked about whatever was under the sun together. During our walk we saw some of the boys playing spikeball at the near by park which surprised us.       After yoga I had academic support where I had one of my favorite conversations. I was walking in the quad when some friends invited me to talk. We discussed graduation cookies, the Met Gala, the nuns...

A Review: April 2018

Parties Sparkled, Flowers Bloomed, and Golf Balls Zoomed in April. Whole School Mass        In April I got to celebrate the final whole school mass of the year. This mass was so special as it was my last mass with the entire school. After the Eucharist was presented the choir sang everyone's favorite songs, "Reckless Love" and "Oceans!" It was so amazing because everyone was singing and looking at each other with lots of love! It was surreal, a very special moment to be in. I absolutely loved it! Later that day my friend and I took photos with the vivid blooming pink trees! They were gorgeous! Prom        April means Prom, so obviously April was Prom. Prom is generally overrated, however it is fun!        This past year, I joined my friends and had a great time! We began the day by going to the nail salon and getting our nails painted. I had never been to a traditional nail salon before, so it w...
