A Review: March 2018

Now with March 2018!

Serving the Homeless
As a part of one of the clubs I was in we got the opportunity to serve the homeless. We began the day by having mass, then going to the store for ingredients. I also drank my first LaCroix, an unflavored one which wasn't bad. We then made all of the breakfast burritos and packaged everything, ready to serve the homeless!
Once we met up downtown our goal of really getting to know people was put in place. We began as a large group giving out lunches to people who are homeless. Our talks were intentional, understanding each person and showing care, not meeting a quota. Later, we split into smaller groups with teachers. We talked to a few people, one man in a wheelchair and his dog that was pink! He was very kind! While, we were talking to him a man gave him money, but more of an I owe you something than a donation. This lead me to believe he has a whole operation because when other students went to serve the homeless months ago, he was still there. The man didn't even want the meal, once we insisted he said he'd give it to a guy he knows who digs in the trash. We met with other people too, like a mom didn't want the food. Another man was interesting. He was on a corner with a sign that read "Weed lost in several small fires," very creative. We talked to him and introduced ourselves. Once, we were leaving he asked our names again and he proceeded to hit on my friend. Gross. We moved on and talked to a man who was discussing the Bible. It was an interesting conversation as he said we always need to have a Bible on us because our phones (that have our Bibles) will die, then what do we have? My friend answered that she doesn't need to physically have a Bible to be protected and all, because she has faith, good point. He was interesting, he asked for prayers too! My group and I were with our priest in training during this, so it was interesting to hear the conversation, one man with lots of education on the subject and the other with what I presume to not have as much information, although he did have faith! That was kind of the end of the day, so we drove back where I had my second LaCroix ever, a Cran-Raz! It was a nice way to spend St. Paddy's day!

Prepping the Food

Manitou Incline
During Spring Break I made a mistake, I agreed to go hike up the Manitou Incline with my friends. The night before my friend suggested it and I said "Sure!" I looked it up and I thought "It's just a bunch of stairs, it can't be that hard." I woke up, got picked up, picked up my friend and e were on our way! We found parking and this thing is much taller than you'd think! It's a whole 5,000 plus stairs in one mile! I began ans was already tired. We walked and walked. I felt like I was hindering my friends because they were talking the whole time, like it was a day in the park! Most of it I wouldn't talk because it took to much, but I'm very expressive, so it worked out. We picked points to climb to and take a break, which worked! I constantly told myself Bible verses to continue. Eventually, we made it up and wow was I tired! We took pictures and done we went! however, the hike down was bad too, I fell and started crying because I was done with all this hiking. Thankfully, I made it done and grumpily ate my snacks in the car. My friends and I went to Kairos coffee afterword. It was a cute place, very old. It probably would've appealed to me more if I hadn't been tired. Then, we went for lunch and then to TJMaxx and Marshall's where I perked up again. Finally, i made my way home and relaxed glad that I did it, but never again, which is funny because I think I want to go again this year!

My friends and I reached the top (Praise God)!

This is not my dog.

An awkward selfie of my friend and I once we reached the top.

Baby got CamelBak.
Golf
I also began golf again which is always fun and relaxing!

20 Activities for 20 year Olds

Good Morning Family and Friends! Recently I have been incredibly bored, hopefully my online classes will entertain me more. I have previously stated that I wasn’t practicing social distancing or whatever, however my mom has been making me stay inside more often and now Colorado is on lockdown. I looked up activities for 20 year olds and didn’t find anything, I guess people make these lists for stay at home moms with young children. So, I decided to make my own list for you, the audience, if you’re bored (which if you’re reading this you probably are) and looking for something to do. Read Woah, how original...read. I don’t read for pleasure often. In the summer I read The Great Gatsby  and I usually read one of Father Greg Boyle’s books some other time in the year. I also read my Vogue magazines. Two books and a magazine isn’t that much. However, since there is more time to do stuff, I figured I could read more. My brother gave me The Princess Bride to read, I’ve read a lit...

The Best Experience of my Young Life: Casa Bonita

I read an article by Westword that read if Disneyland and Tijuana had a baby and left it to fend for itself in a strip mall on Colfax, it’d be Casa Bonita. I finally got to experience this gem with some of my friends, Nai and Hannah, who have also been eager to try the restaurant out.       We pulled into the packed parking lot of Casa Bonita that stood in the same shopping complex as two dollar stores and a kids dental office next door. People surrounded the outside as the fountain splashed and I took photos as rapidly as a mom on Christmas morning. This was it, the best of themed dining experiences. We entered into a very confusing entryway and found the line, but first we stopped by the bathroom, which happened to be very nice. We stood in the red velvet roped line with other epicures, such as ourselves, waiting to order at the register. The line was dark, but illuminated by Corona neons, a sign with the words “Easto Much, Peso Little”, a vi...

Things I've Found on the Ground

Family and friends, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It has been a while since I've published a blog post, but after audience interest in the rekindling of the blog here I am at the 11th hour to ensure a numerical year doesn't go by without a post. I guess I've been gone because I've been busy or less inspired…I don't know. Anyways, for the past two years (and some months) I’ve taken pictures of things I find on the ground, some of  them are amusing, so I’ve decided to share some and write little stories for each. So, please enjoy a small collection of photos and commentary of things I’ve found on the ground.  Making Love in a Hopeless Place Where: Walmart Parking Lot When: December What: An Open Condom Wrapper Can anyone imagine a more romantic place to cement your love than a Walmart parking lot. I surely can't. Forget fireworks you have the rustle of your grocery bags in the back seat. Meanwhile the cold midnight air wafts in through your cracked windows a...
