A Review: October 2018

October was a nice time to get away and see people again.

Not Chocolate
In Early October, I went to the student health center to make an appointment. Lo and behold what I thought were Ghiradelli chocolates were not. The full story can be read in my post "What I've Learned in College."

Estes Park with CRU
In early to mid October I went to Estes Park with CRU. It was nice.
The first night we drove up there and talked which was nice. It was really snowy though when we were trying to find where we were staying, so I offered to get out and guide the way, but my offer was not accepted. We checked in and all. There was a short talk, team meeting, and then a dance. The different schools all had a dance to compete with. Some were really cool with dinosaurs, tributes to musicians, flips, and more. The dances were entertaining to watch some even seemed surreal. Then came the dance party. It was fun after I heard "Closer" and all, I like that song. Then, we took pictures and went to our cabins. that night I read my book (more like Google Doc) to everyone.
The second day featured a key speaker who was talking about how we need to get rid of our fears from the source not the aftermath. That was interesting and inspiring! There were also workshops that day. I went to one and then sat outside watching the elk that were no more than 15 feet away. I hadn't seen elk in a very long time. It was very peaceful to relax with the elk and the cold while writing my in my diary. I eventually went back to the room I was staying in being careful to not disturb the elk, however I did disturb a deer. I was walking and startled a deer that was in my path, so I waited for it to move, but it didn't. So, I moved and went another way, but then I saw it in my path again and it had a family in the corner. As it was in my path I walked the other way and out of the corner of my eye I thought it was coming towards me and I knew this was it for me. It wasn't coming towards me and I went back to my room shaken up. I then colored and then took a nap. I also heard elk outside my window and saw two sizing each other up.
The third day began with "breakfast" that included yogurt and cheese. There was then another talk and then pictures! The drive back was nice and then stopped for a meal at the Rainbow Cafe.

Estes Park with Catholic Club
I went to Estes Park again, but his time with another club.
The first night we drove up, but this time to a cabin instead of a hotel like residence. We later walked down to the building where the events were taking place. Then, the retreat began. Later that night I enjoyed walking back and talking with everyone about how it's nice to be numb and not feel anything. That night there were lots of things happening like all of the rooms getting switched around, cigar smoking (I didn't, only boys were), finding a guest book (Yay!) and lots of people wanting to talk to me.
The second day began with breakfast that was actually really tasty. Then, we went back to the building. At one point we had some free reflection time, so I laid on a bench it was nice and cold. Then we went back to the cabin where we then had free time.
During free time I went to one of the main buildings out there and hung out. I was working there for a while and noticed a lot of Boulder girls' cars pulling up. I was wondering what was happening. Then, all of them began sitting around me, but I was there first so I didn't move. My table was pretty full of girls when another sat down. I realized it was one of my high school sisters! I was so surprised and happy! We hugged and were elated! The other girls did not understand what was happening. It was so nice to see someone I knew again even if we weren't close in high school. I decided to listen to the woman speaking to the girls as they were on a CU Phi Mu retreat. I had a fabulous time chatting a little with the other Phi Mu girls around me. Then, they all left and i continued to work. It was magic and so comforting.
Later that day I returned to the retreat building and saw some workshops, but still surprised I saw someone I knew. We later were walking back to the cabin and waited in the tiny valley where an elk was and where people wanted me to rap. Dinner was good that night and then once again we went back to the retreat building. We viewed a beautiful painting that was incredibly touching. Later that night was Adoration which I had never been to before.
Adoration consisted of praying and lots of other motions. There was a statue holding the Body of Christ. It was very nice to pray and feel God again. I felt very connected to Him and Prayed a lot. it was beautiful and so so shiny and blue.
Also there was this wonderful orange lotion that I adored!
Once again we went back to the cabin. I ate s'mores, fudge, and then played Poker with some of the boys from my high school. I like Poker.
The next morning we had breakfast and finished the retreat. We also received t-shirts, so that was nice, but cleaning up took forever! Then, we headed back.
Overall, it was a nice time spent especially as I saw one my classmates from high school which I think was sent by God.Seeing her, poker, and Adoration were definitely the highlights.

God Bless

20 Activities for 20 year Olds

Good Morning Family and Friends! Recently I have been incredibly bored, hopefully my online classes will entertain me more. I have previously stated that I wasn’t practicing social distancing or whatever, however my mom has been making me stay inside more often and now Colorado is on lockdown. I looked up activities for 20 year olds and didn’t find anything, I guess people make these lists for stay at home moms with young children. So, I decided to make my own list for you, the audience, if you’re bored (which if you’re reading this you probably are) and looking for something to do. Read Woah, how original...read. I don’t read for pleasure often. In the summer I read The Great Gatsby  and I usually read one of Father Greg Boyle’s books some other time in the year. I also read my Vogue magazines. Two books and a magazine isn’t that much. However, since there is more time to do stuff, I figured I could read more. My brother gave me The Princess Bride to read, I’ve read a lit...

The Best Experience of my Young Life: Casa Bonita

I read an article by Westword that read if Disneyland and Tijuana had a baby and left it to fend for itself in a strip mall on Colfax, it’d be Casa Bonita. I finally got to experience this gem with some of my friends, Nai and Hannah, who have also been eager to try the restaurant out.       We pulled into the packed parking lot of Casa Bonita that stood in the same shopping complex as two dollar stores and a kids dental office next door. People surrounded the outside as the fountain splashed and I took photos as rapidly as a mom on Christmas morning. This was it, the best of themed dining experiences. We entered into a very confusing entryway and found the line, but first we stopped by the bathroom, which happened to be very nice. We stood in the red velvet roped line with other epicures, such as ourselves, waiting to order at the register. The line was dark, but illuminated by Corona neons, a sign with the words “Easto Much, Peso Little”, a vi...

Things I've Found on the Ground

Family and friends, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It has been a while since I've published a blog post, but after audience interest in the rekindling of the blog here I am at the 11th hour to ensure a numerical year doesn't go by without a post. I guess I've been gone because I've been busy or less inspired…I don't know. Anyways, for the past two years (and some months) I’ve taken pictures of things I find on the ground, some of  them are amusing, so I’ve decided to share some and write little stories for each. So, please enjoy a small collection of photos and commentary of things I’ve found on the ground.  Making Love in a Hopeless Place Where: Walmart Parking Lot When: December What: An Open Condom Wrapper Can anyone imagine a more romantic place to cement your love than a Walmart parking lot. I surely can't. Forget fireworks you have the rustle of your grocery bags in the back seat. Meanwhile the cold midnight air wafts in through your cracked windows a...
